Employee termination is disruptive - for both the affected employee and the organization. Change requires adaptation and we can make it just a little easier. The status quo is the natural state until a big change occurs and causes an organization and individual to spin off reeling into space. Our career transition coaching and consulting programs can support the affected parties and move both employees and organizations to a brighter future. We have a process in place to help the terminated employee move forward with hope, and to assist those remaining in your organization deal with the changes.
 
Making it easier for employers
 
Termination decisions are often critical to a company's strategic plan but are a bitter pill for all to swallow. Employers often have a sincere interest in the well-being of an employee and feel motivated to help terminated workers, many of them with the company for a long duration, get re-established with a bright future elsewhere. Career transition coaching and consulting is a positive process for the employee that will make an arduous business decision less difficult.
In addition, costs associated with termination can be significant. We can help ensure all statutory requirements are met- reducing exposure to possible litigation and human rights concerns.
 
Preparing for change
 
Downsizing can be complicated and we can assist you in developing a comprehensive plan and to properly manage the process. We ensure your control of the process, providing expert advice and assistance.  We can help in identifying optional approaches to termination, providing experts on severance and compensation and advising on media relations or legal support. We also provide training for managers who will be performing the terminations and guidance with internal communication strategies to encourage existing employees to return to productive work patterns.

Our staff has extensive experience in the termination and career transition process. Our Coaches and Consultants can be present immediately following the meeting. We can provide assistance to the manager during the process, and we’re there to make sure things go smoothly – for the employer and the affected employee.

Shock and Awe is not only a term from an attack but also often how individuals feel after a downsizing. They also feel low self-esteem, depression, anger, anxiety and fear; Termination is a very emotional and stressful experience for an employee. People seldom take time to plan their careers and thus they often overly comfortable with the assumed safety of employment, especially if they have experienced a long tenure with one organization. They may lose touch with the job market and find themselves losing their footing in the face of an unknown future.  Our Coaching services will help an employee remain on his or her feet through the process. We provide a complete assessment of their strengths, values, work experience, motivations and interests, skills and knowledge, ideal job targets and marketplace dynamics. We essentially are equipping them to deal with business realities. Finally, we assist them in developing job search and interviewing-closing skills, and provide an environment facilitative to their career objectives. They have access to all of our resources in making the decision that is right for them – whether finding a new position or going the entrepreneurial route instead.

  1. Career Assessment (Authentic Vocation Process)

    Formal career and skills assessments are especially helpful to people having difficulty finding career alternatives or choosing between two or more attractive options.
     
  2. Psychological Support and Assistance

    ”Anxious and Greatly Affected” individuals can experience heavy stress with job loss, stemming from a myriad of factors including personal or family situations or business-related pressures. Our staff members are trained to identify potentially “Anxious and Greatly Affected” people, and we have professional psychologists who specialize in these areas.
     
  3. Specialized Workshops

    Individuals can choose from a variety of workshops including Resume and Letter Writing, Interview Techniques, Communications, Marketing Strategy, Negotiating Offers, Starting Your Own Business and others.
     
  4. Career/Life Balance and Authentic Vocation

    Individuals on extended programs of four months or longer are eligible to take part in a comprehensive career resiliency program. It includes interactive workshops, the CareerNiche software tool and one-on-one coaching sessions. Individuals will evaluate their past career position and work-life balance, identify their Authentic Vocation choice with the Quantum Shift Coaching Model we offer and create short and long term visions and build a comprehensive career/life development program. It all leads to reduced stress, allowing people to better prepare for change.
     
  5. Financial Counseling

    Financial concerns are a primary issue in job loss. Our financial planning sessions and one-on-one sessions on severance options, debt management, budgeting and tax planning alleviate the fear of the unknown by tailoring advice to the employee’s specific needs.
